Peppermint bark recipe

www.williams-sonoma.com $26.50

This is such a great treat especially when paired with hot cocoa! Here is my mother's recipe to make your own peppermint bark.

Ingredients:
Almond bark (looks like an ice tray)
1/2 cup of crushed peppermints or candy canes
red food coloring (or green if you are using spearmints)
wax paper

Directions:
1. Microwave almond bark using a large microwavable bowl on HIGH for 1 1/2 -2 minutes or until almost melted, stirring after 1 minute. It will be ready when it feels a little softer than frosting.

2. Add cup of crushed peppermints and 3-4 drops of food coloring

3. Spread on wax paper like you would frost a cake.

4. It will harden in about 20-30 mins

5. Break apart into irregular shapes and it's ready to eat! Place in a covered container and refrigerate for up to 5 days.

Tip: use red or green cellophane and red, white, & green curly ribbon to package the peppermint bark when giving as a treat!
